Panel Discussion: “Navigating Cultural Diversity – An Intercultural Integration Perspective”
Invited to address an international panel discussion at the House of Commons, United Kingdom, Maria-Gabriele Doublesin contributed an intercultural and community counselling perspective on the role of culture in strengthening social cohesion across the Commonwealth.
Drawing on her experience as an Intercultural Community Counsellor, Global Strategist, and President of NWAMI International Malta, she examined the opportunities and challenges arising from increasing cultural diversity, emphasising the importance of cultural literacy, multilingualism, inclusive development, and intercultural dialogue as foundations for sustainable integration. Her contribution highlighted the need to balance the preservation of cultural identity with adaptation and innovation, advocating for evidence-informed approaches that promote social cohesion, democratic values, and culturally responsive leadership.
The discussion explored how culture can serve as a strategic driver of economic development, community resilience and international cooperation, reinforcing the importance of intercultural intelligence in addressing contemporary global challenges.
